You take a brisk walk down the Victorian high-street and all of a sudden you stop and see a classic Victorian steam car with billows of steam overhead, whilst kids are rushing to line up to go on the huge ferris wheel, all over, what seams like a backing track of celebrations and jazz.
No you didn’t just step out of a time machine. The Victorian Extravaganza is back in town!
The festival is now in it’s 34th year and is an integral part of this historic town’s celebrations. The Victorian Extravaganza will return this year back to its former glory featuring more Victorian style things. Last year, there were a whopping 123 fairground plots and rides, receiving some speculation as to whether the Extravaganza has become too modern now. However, this year organisers have said that they have seen the light and have reduced the event’s modern fairground plots down to 57 meaning more space for Victorian authenticity.
Llandudno is the ideal location for such an event, it was of-course around these times where Lewis Carroll got his inspiration for Alice in Wonderland from this town.
Throughout the town you will see tonnes of Victorian engines parading down the high streets and people strolling down the road in traditional Victorian attire. Carnival games and puppet shows, big brass bands, duck ponds, coconut shys and shooting competitions all make up this tremendous event and it’s one that shouldn’t be missed.
Featuring all of Llandudno’s local business and establishments the extravaganza is an all-inclusive and ideal environment home to scores of local restaurants, pubs and cafés making it a perfect opportunity to sample the local characteristic charm of the seaside resort town. Pop over to Llandudno and enjoy the awesome event featuring Victorian themed carnival celebrations. The event will be taking place across 3 days of fun and amusements.
This year the event is taking place from 4th –6th of May, each day the festivities kick off at 10.00 and continue through to 17.00.
