It’s less than a month until Llandudno’s biggest event, the Victorian Extravaganza, kicks off – and we’re very much looking forward to it! The Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza has been providing free entertainment in Llandudno on the first bank holiday of May for over 30 years, and changes almost every year in order to provide variety to both locals and the visitors that attend on a frequent basis.
In 2018 in particular, there are quite a few changes to come, based on feedback supplied from both the locals of Llandudno and the visitors which come to the event frequently.
The most prominent change of 2018’s Extravaganza compared to those of recent years is the allocation of two zones for the festivities. Zone 1 is the Victorian Zone, and will feature a large variety of Victorian rides (which we’re assured all meet current day safety standards!) as well as an array of Traction Engines which are lovingly preserved, maintained, and we’re certain will be fired up accordingly in order to amaze and astound all who behold them.
We’re certain that more than a few of these fantastic machines will be part of the daily street parades as well.
There will also be Victorian entertainment from A Touch of Class as well as (and what we’re looking forward to most!) a Victorian Street Market which will take place throughout the Extravaganza weekend. Other Victorian Attractions will include an actual, bona fide Victorian School in 16 Trinity Square, and so, so much more.
Zone 2 features a series of modern rides which are inspired by the Victorian amusements of yesteryear, as well as a homage to the wheel which used to grace the promenade in a much smaller version. Kids and those young at heart will be sure to enjoy the funfair which will be part of the more modern Zone 2, and the bright lights and the music (as well as cotton candy and prizes!) we’re sure will go down a treat with anyone looking for good, old fashioned fun.
The Victorians loved a good fun fair after all, and modern ones are very similar to the original ideas crafted by old Victorian amusements. We’re sure that the family will love them!
The St Tudno Hotel is ready and prepared to operate throughout the Victorian Extravaganza. While sadly, our room availability has been brought to zero by the demand that the Extravaganza generates, we are still open nonetheless to guests and visitors which would like to enjoy an excellent quality breakfast, lunch or dinner in a heritage building which retains and embraces all of its Victorian charm, while meeting modern day standards of comfort.
Our stunning hotel on Llandudno’s gorgeous seashore is placed in a prime position from the bay and of course Llandudno’s pier, and a short walk down the road will allow you to get the very best of the Extravaganza as well. We especially recommend our Afternoon Tea in order to really get in the spirit.
